PSW based on BSc Oxford Brookes (ACCA)

Post by adnaan_23 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:42 pm

Hi

I'm looking for some guidance on this particular issue and any help will be appreciated.

Basically my situation is as foll. :
My student visa expires on 16th Oct. 2011

I've cleared both, the ACCA professional level exams and the BSc Oxford Brookes degree in the last sitting (June and Sept. respectively).

I'm looking to apply for a PSW based on the Bsc degree but I face a problem of shortage of time! I got the email with the result on 28th Sept. and I've already requested for the required letters to be sent over but I'm not sure whether they will be processed and reach me in time.

Has anyone requested these letters and applied on this basis and if so, could you please give me an idea of the time it takes to get the letter from oxford Brookes?

Supposing I don't have time to make it before my visa expires what other options do I have? (Besides of course, the most obvious one of going back and applying from my home country - I have work commitments and will find it very tough to take 3-4 weeks off just to go back and get my application sorted!)

Thanks!

Your only other option is to apply out of time which should be avoided and indeed if you do that you won't be able to work anyway. I don't see why it would take your university over two weeks to issue the letter but they are the best people to ask how long it takes to issue.

Firstly, thanks for your response!

Hmm, ya i guess thats just what I might have to do eventually. I did find out from the Uni and they said it takes 1-2 weeks but I can't just sit there and wait for it isnt it? need to have a backup in case it doesnt work out.

I came across a "change of circumstances" form on the UKBA website which apparently allows you to submit additional info. after the application is submitted. I realise its usually used for changing personal information such as address etc. but do you reckon I could use it to submit that letter once it arrives? Coz I should have the result letter with me by next week so I could submit that along with the other requirements for the application.

hi Adnan_23

I've also requested the psw letter from the Oxford Brookes, the automatic reply from the OBU gave time line of 3 weeks. You are saying 1-2 weeks, is that what they said over the phone?

Also OBU says the letter gets issued on a first come first serve basis, when did you email for the letter. I mean, did you email them on the 27 September ( upon recipt of result via email), or on the 28th September?

My visa is expiring on the 29th October. we are on the same boat!

Hey ajek,

Well, I had emailed them a while ago asking for an approximate time frame and they got back me to saying it should take around 1-2 weeks. Even I got that standard "we're experiencing high volume of requests...blah blah 3 weeks!" thing when I requested the letter after the result (I think I emailed them late in the evening on 27th).

Bruv, you've got 13 days on me, we might be in the same boat but I'm like in the 3rd class bottom compartments and ur higher up...I drown first if the ship floods ;) (titanic is one of my fav movies of all time :D).

So when did you request for the letter? and have you got the results in the post yet? I'm still waiting for the results to come through even!

lol...yea I have some more time though...

yea i have received my result, it is 2:1. Thats a bit late, I guess, I mean most students got it on the 28th.

I requested the letter 20 mins after I got the result via email

we also have to get a letter from the tution provider as well, I'm trying to get that ready, so once I get the OBU letter, I'm ready. Have you managed to get hold of that?

I'm hoping the tuition provider letter should not be a problem, I've put in a request last week and tbh the customer service staff are quite helpful at Kaplan.

Btw, if u dont mind me asking, are u in London as well? which college did u do your ACCA papers from?

Thats great! Congrats!! So now you just have to get the other stuff sorted and ur ready :)

Btw, what details did you request LSBF for on that letter? I've requested for a standard "psw" letter but I'd still like to confirm what information is required.

its a standard letter, actually it does not say much, all it says that I have done my level 2 of ACCA which is a UK degree equivalent course. have you received your psw letter of OBU?
