QUERIES ON ENTRY CLEARANCE

Post by Seem » Sat Sep 02, 2006 12:47 pm

Hello all,

You all are doing a great work, but after reading many posts, butterflies have started to flutter in my stomach..

We have got the work permit and plan to go the Entry clearance interview next week..I dont belong to the Highly skilled catergory, though I have a good degree (dont think that it is affiliated in US).

My designation in WP is Marketing Manager, and I have 2 years experience as Business Dev Manager plus around 10 years in administration and Procurement. My employer is giving me a decent salary plus accommodation. My wife is a Post graduate with considerable work experience. I have come through this employer through a news paper ad, and a lawyer helped me to get in touch with the employer and to process the WP.

My question is, what are my chances of recieving an entry clearance?

I am Indian, working in Middle East for 12 years, have travelled to UK many times on business.

Please Pelase Please help.

If you have the WP, why not and why are you concerned?
You have a job, salary and accommodation.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your reply. I have heard that the EC interview at the local British mission can be quite tough. Thats is why I am concerened. Can you please tell me what type of questions to expect?

In fact I have heard that it is equal to the immigration interview for Canada (which is very tough)

Thanks,

Define "tough".

No one can tell you that, mate. If you have the genuine Work Permit and genuine skills, you have nothing to worry about, no matter what questions you are asked. Just be yourself and honest - this is all that required. There are NO set questions. All of them are about what you have written in your application and what job you have been approved for - and since you have written it all yourself you know what to expect.

And what? No matter how tough the interview is, if you are confident you qualify for the category you applied for - you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Just to add to what Jeff as said...the interview isn't a test that you can cram for. There are no right or wrong answers to give. No need to cry and no need to be nervous.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Hello all,

Just wanted to let you know, today I got the entry clearance stamped. No interviews, we presented all papers.

Thanks for all your help.

Exactly that. I had no doubt that you would get it even without any interviews. All the best.
