Indian passport surrender - waiting time

Hi,

I've submitted my family's passport for surrendering at VFS london on 27th of September, at the time they quoted 2 weeks minimum wait.

But its well over 2 weeks now, so far the tracking system on vfs site says the passports are still with the indian embassy for verification. Its not easy to contact vfs because their helpline is a premium rate 0900 no.

I'm really worried about the delay, has anybody in the forum know about the current processing times. Please advise
