Help required

Post by krg1180 » Sat Oct 15, 2011 1:50 pm

I would like some advise please.
I am british citizen by birth and my husband is St Lucian.
He has been here on a marriage visa, when this expired we moved to St Lucia to live. 2 years on we are moving back to the UK, with our son who has dual nationality.
I am living in the UK at the moment with my son but my husband is living in St Lucia as he was advised that he needs to apply for entry clearance from his own country.
I am currently claiming CB, and CTC solely in my name.
Can I claim for anything else, I do not need HB or council benefit as I am staying with my parents.
I am not aware of how the whole benefits work nor what influence they will have on my husbands visa application.
I would appreciate any help at all.
many thanks

You may be entitled to Jobseekers allowance or income support but you need to go to the jobcentre to enquire about the benefits you are entitled to.
Claiming benefits will have NO effect on the visa application

..... and CTC solely in my name.
That is fine, at the moment. But when your husband returns to the UK the Tax Credits claim must be put into joint names. To retain the claim in your sole name after your husband is living with you could amount to benefit fraud.
