Settlement for Tier 2 general

I know this must have been discussed so many times before in this forum.

I am considering a move to UK on Tier-2 general sponsored visa but heard that the settlement is no longer offered now even after 5 years.
Is this enforced now or still under consideration?

Please help me knowing.

There is no harm in giving a one line answer.

Well according to current rules the settlement is still available but the UKBA have recently completed a consultation process in this regard and the new rules might be announced soon. So no one really knows whats happening.
