FAQs for Claiming Benefits

Post by desilemons » Mon Oct 24, 2011 6:32 pm

Dear Moderators,

I was just wondering if we have any FAQs for claiming benefits as well, just like the sticky "FAQs for ILR - WP/Tier 1/Tier 2/HSMP holders" please??

Regards.

There are no special rules for "WP/Tier 1/Tier 2/HSMP holders". There are rules for those who have having a time-restricted visa with the "No recourse to Public Funds" restriction on their visa, but those having such a visa restrictions extend beyond "WP/Tier 1/Tier 2/HSMP holders".

A reasonably concise guide is linked to in the opening post in this topic (click). But even that shows this is not an easy subject, with a number of exceptions, such as those from say Canada and NZ being allowed to claim Child Benefit, for example.

Thanks John.

I have recently obtained ILR for myself and 2 dependents and was now checking what benefits I can claim which shouldn't affect our application for British Citizenship in the future. I thought I could find this information easily under this fourm's topic "Claiming Benefits" as it is a very general question.

Is there any official information available which outlines all the rules regarding this matter please?

Regards.

The answer is very clear! Look at your visas! Any conditions? No! That being the case you are entitled to claim any benefits that your circumstances dictate you are entitled to. Any such claims will have no effect upon any application for Citizenship.
