BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT

Post by gs2011 » Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:09 pm

Hi, I would like to ask for advise as I am very confused.

I got a letter from the UKBA on 4th Nov (letter dated 1st Nov).
The letter stated that I have to book my biometric enrolment appointment.
It gave me an option to visit the website to book or to call customer service.
They have also attached the list of Centres with the letter. The locations they gave me were Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Croydon, Derby, Glasgow, Liverpool, Sheffield.

I have made a research on their website that there are actually walk-in services available at selected Post Offices to do the biometrics enrolment without a need for booking an appointment. It says on the website "You may be able to enrol your biometric information at a limited number of post offices nationwide. This is a walk-in service, with no need to book an appointment, but you can only use the service if you have been sent a letter inviting you to do so."

Well, obviously I haven't been invited to do a walk in at post office coz clearly it stated in the letter that I have to book it online. It didn't say that I could go to post office.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure and I rang the local Post Office in Oxford to inquire and they said they got a Biometrics Enrolment Service in and I should bring my letter from UKBA with a barcode in it as they need to scan it.

The problem is, I don't have a letter with a barcode in it.
I would have wanted to do it in Post Office instead as I would be able to save 50 pounds in getting a train from Oxford to Croydon.

So anyway, I got no option but to book it online.

I went to the website and went with the online booking instead. I registered, chose a date, chose a location in Croydon and then I clicked on "complete booking" button.

I then got an error that says "We do not have a record for the case ID and date of birth that you entered. Check that you entered these fields correctly or call the contact centre".

I double checked it before I have clicked on the button and I am 100% sure that I entered the case ID number (from the letter) and date of birth correctly.

I am very worried coz I cannot go to post office because the letter states that I have to do it online (and my letter doesnt have a barcode anyway). And then when I tried to book it online, they wouldn't let me.

My question is, why am I getting this online error if they wanted me to do it online instead?

I got 15 working days to book my biometrics.

Please can anyone help. Very much appreciated. Thanks.
