Urgent HELP PLEASE-Currently on Tier 1 (PSW)

Post by Humv » Fri Nov 04, 2011 7:05 pm

Hi,

I am currently on PSW. and my visa is going to expire end of July 2011. I am working in ABC company since August 2011 as an IT application support officer. Its going to be 6 months in January. My current salary is £22000.

I have spoken to my employer about sponsorship. he has then spoken to HR department and they said my job is not on Code of Practice list, so they can not sponsor me.

I am so upset and strees. Could anyone advice me what to do now and what are the other options available if any. Please

Thanks.

Have a read through of this document. Code of practice

Try to find the job which closely matches with your present job description.

Check if you satisfy salary criteria.

Suggest it to your employer.

See what happens

cheers

Thanks for your reply!

I am bit confused here. So you mean I need to find a job from codes of practice list which closely matches to current job, and tell my employer if they can sponsor me for that role? or what do I need to tell my employer?

what aresnal is telling you is try to first of check through guidance the SOC code and appropirate salary level required for tier-2 sposorship. example IT support engineer need to be paid at least 30K (hypotthetical situation) then you will not qualify for switching.
say it 20, 000GBP then you would, so plan of action will be to go your employer and tell them step by step the process of obtaining of the tier-2 gen visa for you - quote the SOC code, tell them how to request for unrestricted CoS, the timelines involved,

idea is to present it in such a wat that they are not overwhelmed by the amount of work that they need to do. thats your best chance i would have thought. alternatively look for another job before July with an emploiyer who is willing to sponsor you.

Thanks for your response! Thats very helpful!
So if i find a role which matches to my current job in code of practice list. And salary is 20k or more and speak to my manager about it.
What exact steps they need to take?
The reason why i am asking is they do not have enough information about all this and I need to provide them whole information.
Could you please advice me the steps i need to tell my manager? And what actions they need to take.
Many Thanks :)
