Sponsors for IT based jobs

Hi,
I am an IT professional and would like to know if it is possible to get a visa sponsor for IT based jobs, as it does not seem to be listed in the shortage list.
In that case, which category would be more apt, as tier 1 general is also closed?
Any info would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
