Coming up to 5years on Work Permits but gap in Stamps

Post by meldives » Fri Nov 11, 2011 6:08 pm

Next year I will have completed 5 years with my work permits (Stamp 1)

However, due to the incomptency of my employer there is an approximately 6 week gap between my first Stamp 1 and 2nd Stamp 1.

I was speaking to the immigration officer today (although I don't know if he actually was an immigration officer. It was not the usual person and this person was a in a garda uniform) and after looking something up on the computer he said that when I reach the 5 years on stamp 1, I will be able to get a Stamp 4 for 12months and once the extra 6 weeks has passed then I will be able to get a stamp for 5 years? I assume this is when I can apply for Long term Residency and / or citzenship.

If anyone has any experience with this your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Have already done this and it was saying that I have to wait the extra 6 weeks before I am an eligible. I guess I'm more concerned about what happens when my current work permit is up. Even though I have done 5 years I don't technically have 5 years of stamps so will I still get the stamp 4?
