Re-entering UK on a tier-2 ICT

I have been in the UK on a tier-2 ICT work permit since jan 2009 (visa issued in 2008 october) ... if my parent company asked me to return to my home country to work for them for a period of 6 months ... subsequent to which they want me to return to the UK.
Q1
- is there a provision of putting the current work permit on hold i.e without cancelling it so I can return .

Q2 assuming 1 is not possible then can they assign a new unrestricted ICT CoS to me. OR would they have to wait for a period of 12 months from the date they cancel my current Tier-2 ICT.
