Biometric Notification Letter, how long does it take?

I sent my application on 20th Oct 2011. I received ack on 28th Oct but have not got any biometric notification letter or an email. How does it take to arrive? How many days does home office ask to wait, is that 28 days or 6 weeks before i contact them for the letter? Would appreciate, if you please tell me the contact number as well.
