Hello People,
This might be jumping the gun a bit, but I would like a little bit more information of ILR before I apply for one next year. The conventional wisdom is that it frees one from continuous renewal of permissions to live and work. But going through the UKBA website, it says that ILR will be revoked if one stays out of the country for 2years or more after getting the ILR.
There are no further explanations that I could find. I have these nagging questions and it will be great if you can help me with them.
1. Is this a minimum period that one stays out of the country at a *single stretch* i.e. if one is the UK for a month every 2 years, he can keep his ILR valid.
2. Does the absence means a physical absence... If I have my company based in the UK, paying taxes and NI but I myself operate out of the country, will that count as an absence.
As with anything, the letter of the law is quite different from the experience, so I am counting on people who know.
Cheers!
