Hi,
I am having an offer from an Indian company to work in UK. It seems I have to be with this company for atleast 6 months before they can process the work permit. Is this really a pre-condition for the UK work permit? Can there be any relaxation on the same? Is there any other way of avoiding of the same since I dont want to work for this company in India?
Thx in adv for the replier's time.
Rgds

This is a condition of the Business & Commercial tier 1 category Intra Company Transfer. The only way around it is for the UK employer to prove the position has been advertised and that no suitible resident labour is available.
Even under an ICT they need to prove you have skills unique to the employer that cannot be found in the resident labour market.

Dear Woody,
Thanks for the reply.. Actually the skill set I have is quite in demand and getting UK person with same skill set should be quite difficult. Can they send me on Business Visa initially and then convert that to WP if required?
I hear from the Indian company that this project is only for about 2 years and I dont want to miss the exciting part of the project by wasting my time here in the Indian subsidary.. For me this project is of big importance... For me it looks clear that I should be able to travel with in next 3 months other wise its of no use..
Could some of the honourable board members give some suggestions on the same??? Thx in advance.

Since the project is run and managed by the your company, you have to rather convince them somehow.
As woodieG mentioned, the only way forward is tier 1 intra company transfer.

yes..ICT is the way to go..
I think if your Company wants to work in India initially then it may be a trap to hire you..
I have seen lot of Indian companies giving false promises to send you to UK/US after x months, and once you join them, you are stuck..
I my self have experienced it..Surprisingly it is a major IT company in India , having tie up with a Major Telecom Co. in UK...
Hope it helps

Thanks vin123, ashishashah
I am a little confused now. Is it possible to go to UK with in short notice or not? Because for ICT only way is to join the company for atleast 6 months.
What about my other query where in going on Business Visa and then converting that to Work Permit?
Also if I ask the company to apply for HSMP, will they contact my existing employeer to check my details?
