application processing durations variability

Post by dr_raihan29 » Sat Nov 19, 2011 3:52 pm

I was going through the different posts as a newbie to the forum and found one thing really standing out, It seems to me that applications submitted in the summer months or april/may/june/july etc seems to have taken a MUCH longer processing time than the recent ones submitted beyond august some even getting through within 5 weeks! is there any particular reason for that? Is homeoffice specifically busier during the summer times?

That a good point and well spotted, it makes sense as my relatives who got there's back in 4/5 weeks were in January time.

It will be interesting to here from others and there opinions...

yes Summer time is busiest season for Home office, but its not the only reason making application processing longer in summer. I think processing time depends on what Verification and check initial Case worker wants to carry out on any application, if they want more checks application will take more time.

The fee went up in April this year. Thus there were unprecendented number of applications until end of March. The backlog seems to have cleared only a couple of months ago.

I would agree that it seems that HO process applications quicker this autumn, but unfortunately they don't have much structure in their work as they started to process October applications when a lot of people who applied before are still waiting :(

I think the way it works is that each caseworker is assigned a number of applications for a specific period. for example one might get 1,000 July-application and as time goes by the other gets 50 September-applications. obviously it is more likely that if you apply in September you would be served before the person who applied in July. It is only a guess...
