Traveling with children without spouse

Post by bilotkach » Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:44 am

I am Tier 2 General, here with wife and two kids.
This winter, my wife has to travel to our home country by herself. I plan to take children with me later on, we will get back together.
Now, the problem: my children's Entry Clearance stamps are in my wife's passport.
The question: will I have problems when going out of the UK? I.e., what if I am asked about the kids' status in this country? I plan to carry photocopies of their Entry Clearance stamps (which have my name on them, of course, as I am the primary Tier 2 status holder) - will this help?

Thank you.

No. we have lived in the USA before, and my country's rules are that you can only make travel documents for children in my home country. Thus, kids are included into our passports

OK - so they are named on your passport as well as your wife's?

Leaving the UK will be fine but not for the return. The problems will start at the airline check-in rather than on arrival in the UK. They won't be allowed to board the aircraft without evidence of their visa or residence permit.

Edit: sorry forget that comment. If you intend to travel back to the UK together you will be fine.

from the OP's post it seems they are leaving the UK seperately but returning together

I assume that this essentially means that the children are included in their mother's passport, and not on yours.

In such case, I think they will be unable to exit UK with you as their passport (i.e. - their mother's passport, in which they are included) will not be available.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
