I'm not an expert on Tier 2 but I don't think you have to be in a shortage occupation because you are an established work permit holder. As long as you are at least at the level of job you got your permit for I think you should be OK but please wait for definitive answer from someone else. I think as long as your employer confirms in writing you have an ongoing job at a certain pay level then your settlement app should be acceptable.

ILR /soc code

Post by jossy29 » Thu Nov 24, 2011 5:11 pm

Hi TajiO,

The old workpermit holder applying for indefinite leave to remain will defintiely need a SOC code of his/her current job and the designated job must be paid above the minimum salary for that particular job.The applicant without a soc code for their current job or not paid above the minimum salary for that particular code will be refused.
I applied last month for my indefinte leave to remain as an old workpermit older last month.I presented my employer's letter without the soc code for my job,the caseworker handling my application called me after 3hours,requesting me to go back to my employer and ask for the soc code for my job.At last I got a letter from my employer indicating the soc code for my job and submitted to the Cardiff PEO.
I finally got my indefinite leave to remain after 4weeks of waiting.
Regards.
