Visa free travel to Schengen with EEA4?

HI, does anyone know if it's possible to travel to the Schengen area countries without a visa if you have a EEA4 permit in your passport? I'm asking because this permit does not actually state that the holder is a spouse/family member of the EEA national?

My non-EEA wife's EEA2 is due to run out and I was wondering if it would make more sense to just apply for another EEA2 as this would make travelling to Europe so much easier. She can apply for British citzenship at the 5+1 year stage anyway with or without an EEA4 permit...

Yes, you will be allowed to travel with PR. For many it will be relatively new - consider yourselves trailblazers...
