Can i apply for FP now?

I am a resident in saudi arabia with my family and my wife is french national.


I want to travel in June 2012. Now i want to ask is that can i apply for Family Permit now or it would be tooo early to apply for it???
and in application i will mention my date for example 15/06/2012 .... if they issue me FP would it be from the date i was being issued a visa or the date i mentioned on application???

well i am again posting in this topic because today i have submitted my application for Family permit

but the person at vfs said that any category of visa if applied you should atleast be mentioning the date of travel would be 3months from the date of application submission


like i said before i have mentioned in the application i will travel for 2months from 11 june 2012 and come back on 11 august 2012

and i submitted the application on 4/1/2012.

means my date of travel is more than 3months from application date.


so can someone please clarify me regarding this situation

Don't worry. As demonstrated again and again, VFS might know the rules for UK visitor visa but not for EEA Family Permit.

From the UKBA website:

In assessing an application, the ECO should be satisfied that:

1. the applicant is the family member of the EEA national (marriage certificate, birth certificate or other evidence of family link)
2. the EEA national is residing in the UK in accordance with the EEA Regulations (as qualified person if more than 3 months) and the non-EEA national is joining them; or the EEA national intends to travel to the UK within 6 months and will have a right to reside under the Regulations on arrival, and the non-EEA national will be accompanying or joining the EEA national; and
