Hi, I hope someone can give me some advice in the following matter.
My partner - who is also my 3-year-old son's father - and I want to get married in Switzerland and then apply for a UK visa for him at the British Embassy over there.
Reason: He is from Burkina Faso, used to live in Switzerland, entry there is easiest for him. We tried UK tourist visa, which was refused for what we assume were financial reasons. Me on benefits (single mum in UK), he, well, African. The situation has now changed, I am in a position to sponsor him, can show a good income and all the rest of it. Logistically, doing the whole administration from Switzerland is/seems much easier as it is closer to the UK, and allows for several backwards and forwards trips, if they were needed.
In Burkina, there is no British Embassy, which means the closest one is in Accra (Ghana), a 2-day bus ride away.
I would really appreciate someone else's take on this, how feasible is this undertaking, does it sound completely crazy or is there precedence to this? Has anyone done anything similar? Is it more difficult for an African man to obtain a visa for the UK when he is already on the European continent? Is it better to do it in Africa?
We want to get married this year and as soon as possible, so your opinion(s) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much
