Entering the UK without your partner on a EEA visa?

Post by wanderself » Fri Dec 16, 2011 3:23 pm

I just got a job offer in the UK. I have a 6 months valid EEA permit, which has not been activated yet. I live in Spain with my Spanish partner.

The problem is my partner cannot come to the UK yet as he is still busy in Spain. He will move a month after me. So is it possible for me to enter the UK to go to the job interview or will I be stopped at Heathrow because my husband is not with me?

Does anybody know? The law is a bit vague on this one re reunion and travel.

Hola

If you have a job offer than why there is interview?

Anyways you have EEA thing and when you will be with IO he/she will definately ask you a question where your partner is or why are you not traveling with him.

You can do two things

1) Send an email to UK Embassy in your country and also to Home office by telling your situation. If they say you won't have any problem then you can print the email and show it to IO ( Immigration Officer)

2) You can have your marrige certificate with you with your tenancy documents with both of your names written on it and you can exalin IO about your condition. BUt 90% chances are for deportation.

Here is what Home office says for EEA Permitt

the non-EEA family member must be travelling to the UK:

with the EEA national; or
to join the EEA national here.
If the EEA national is outside the UK and is not travelling with them, the non-EEA family member must instead apply for a visa (if they need one) before they can come to the UK. For more information,

What is very clear is that your EU wife will need to already be in the UK or travel with you for your initial entry to the UK.

How long is the job for?
