HOW DO UKBA SIGN THE RECEIPTS FOR RECORDED DELIVERY?

Has anyone checked the tracking and proof of signature for signed for services on Royal Mail's website, such as special delivery and recorded delivery for items sent to UKBA?

If they have, how do UKBA sign for recorded delivery items that they have received?

For example, does the receiving UKBA official sign their name or do they just sign UKBA or what?

Normally it does not have a signature as you send papers to a PO Box. However, you do get an occasional doodle appear in electronic format. This should not be decisive whatever you require this info for as the UKBA can always track the person/people collecting the truck load of applications on the day from the PO Box. Is there any particular reason why a simple confirmation that your package has been delivered would not suffice?

The reason for asking is that the person's EEA2 application hasn't received any response after two months. It was signed for, but the signature in question was signed as: " UKBA".

I just wondered if this was standard practice.

I know from my own experience with signed for that Royal Mail is not always reliable in collecting signatures, ie they don't bother getting any signature or some postmen sign the cards or machines themselves.

Call them on 0845 010 5200 (the emergency travel number) and choose the right options to speak to the EU team. They can confirm whether they have or have not received your app. Also, the same number but different options, you could request your passport back for "travel". This way they will have to find it to send you back just the travel docs, without withdrawing your application.

In theory, if you ask for your passport back after three months, they will prioritize processing (where possible) so that you also get back your Residence Card.

hahaha, I doubt he'd wait for 3 months from now to request it back, that's the whole point, the guy doesn't know whether they got it or not. If he knew for sure they got it, he wouldn't have any need to request it back, it's just a tactic of checking whether they have it. And yes, the "prioritising" thing is smth they are meant to adhere, some even "prioritise" when people request the docs well before the 3 months are over.

Yes, it was two months ago that Royal Mail say the application was received and signed for.

The applicant is getting worried because their employer requested to see their passport to confirm their right to work (as an EU's family member); which, of course they can't do now, because UKBA did not send a COA and they have the passports ( I hope) .

From what I've read on here, most EEA2 applicants usually receive a COA letter within a month.

Does the UKBA employers' helpline also deal with EU enquiries about who has the right to work?
