Newbie Questions on Fiance Visa

Post by LiamR » Fri Oct 06, 2006 11:25 am

Hello,
Just have a few questions and hope anyone can help,,,

I am English and my Fiance holds a Uzbek passport but is returning to Russia to live with her mother, is there any possibility she can get the visa done in Russia or will she have to do it in Uzb?

In england I work on Contract, it is full time and 12 month contract. it will be renewed when it runs out in July 2007, (started July 2006 and I had a 1 month contract prior to that as a trial period which was June 2006), Will this job be sufficient to show that there is no recourse to public funds? I earn 12k a year and of that about £700-£800 stays in my account per month as I only need to use a small amount of it. Will this be ok?

If she is legally resident in Russia, as compared to just visiting, then yes, she can indeed for her visa in Russia.

The test is that it needs to be shown that the applicant will not need to claim certain Public Funds. On the basis of merely knowing your income it is impossible to say. Cost of accommodation .... amount of savings ... might also come into it.

Thank you for the reply,

Will there be any problem with working on contract? I have been told quite a few different things from different people and am rather confused with it.

LiamR, let's just put it this way, when my wife applied for and got her spouse visa back in 2001 I was on contract work. That fact was openly admitted and indeed the "evidence folder" included a copy of the contract and a few monthly invoices.

But I emphasise, being on contract is just part of the overall picture that the ECO will take into account in making their decision.
