international divorce british citizen divorcing turkish man

Post by lyndseykeseli » Wed Jan 04, 2012 11:34 pm

hi there im hoping that u will be ablt to help me out please.

i have been seperated for 4 years now from my turkish husband. in this time i have been with my current partner (also turkish) for 3 years and just had a baby girl. this being now that i have to make the divorce final to make plans ie to get married again more children etc

from what i know my ex is living in london or ireland with his newpartner i dont have any contact with him at all...

i dont haveamarriage book as this has been misplaced and apparantly i cant get divorced without it. they say i need to actually go to the office it was issued but we got married in a small turkish village registry office with only 2 witnesses, i really wouldnt have a clue about it again, i dont know the language or the culture to try andgoand find itmyself, also at the initial breakup his family and him have been nothing but ignorant, rude and abusive to me, i wiould not feel safe at allbeing there incase of being recognised,

can u tellme please if there is anyway of a lawyer here getting the paperwork, if i give the day month year and passport number it should all be saved, i did try to get a copy from it from antalya office but they never accepted after arguing for 35mins trying to get my point across, they said u dont need it for divorce then told me to contact issuing office.

i feel like theresno way out of this (thative created i know)im just looking for some guidance please

thankyou again

I do not see this as an immigration problem. Instead it is a Family Law problem, and I think you need to speak to a Family Law Solicitor, in order to clarify what to do about you not having your hands on the "marriage certificate", and also the fact that you do not know where your husband is.
