Housing benefit spose visa(partner)

Post by arunindrajith » Sat Jan 07, 2012 12:25 pm

I(main applicant) have PR(permanent residence) and applied for housing benefit last month.
I've given my wife's(partners) all personal details and income details which they have asked on the application. She is on 2y spouse visa. My main worry is will this application effect her when she's applying for the ILR.?

Thanks

Yes, I've mentioned her visa status and requested benefit office to not to mention her name on benefits, but they refused to do that coz, she is contributing to the household income.

as long as you don't claim additional benefits due to your wife being in the UK (i.e. if you are granted HB it is as a single person, not as a couple) then this won't have any bearing on your wife's application. It is correct that you need to declare your wife's income as part of your application.

Thanks for the reply, on the same application form (housing benefit and council tax benefit) asking details of you and your partner. Does it sound applying as a couple. On the form it clearly says if you have a partner, you must answer all the question about them and yourself.
I'm bit worried whether this is treat as a couple.
thx

You have done the right thing & it won't affect your wife's application. Have a look at this link, its about Public funds guidance, hopefully, it will put your mind at rest.
