Change of Employment (Work Permit to Tier 2 General)

Post by zolopp » Fri Dec 30, 2011 5:03 pm

Hi All
I am currently on Work Permit visa and am thinking about switching job. I am a bit concerned about the continuity of my time leading to ILR, as I have already done about 3.5yrs, and I dont want to start again from zero. I just want advice from this forum that how complicated/risky it is.
A few questions:

1) Will my current company be notified automatically by UKBA as soon as UKBA receives my visa application through the new company? OR my current company will ONLY be notified after my visa for the new company has been accepted?
2) This second question is somewhat similar to above: If (for any unknown reason) UKBA refuses my visa application sent by the new comapny; then what will be state of my current visa? I mean, will I have to surrender my current visa in order to even apply for new visa?
3) Will I have to apply again for my dependent's visas as well, when I switch job? and if so how much will it cost?

Best Regards

Hey Pal
I am under similar scenario. Don't really know what to do!!!
I am seeking new opportunities but how this affects my visa / ILR I am not quite sure.
Can someone or seniors please shed some light on this subject.
Is it advisable to move to different employer due to tighter visa conditions?

I am on Tier 2 General to be extended in Nov'12.
I am looking for better opportunities and can not understand if I must proceed or not.

Any comment will be appreciated.
Thanks

UK Tier 2 (Employer Sponsored) visas

Tier210
I have been searching around on the internet and this forum is by far the best place to get the information about UK visas. However, the rules are changing all the time; thats why the advice of experts and experiences of recent applicants is very valuable.
I have more questions in mind but I will put them here after a respected expert or some fellow applicant have gone through the previous lot. The questions may be silly in someone's point of view, but I think its better to ask those who know better than us.
It will be great if an applicant who switched job recently (work permit to Tier2, or Tier2 to Tier2) can tell us about the timeline (when to give notice etc), risks involved and other general advice.
Once I have gone through the change of employment myself, I plan to post all my experience on this forum so that it helps others in future to find the info at one place.

Replies and advice will be much appreciated
