Maintenance Funds in Fixed Deposits

Post by fre3ze » Thu Nov 10, 2011 7:46 am

I've recently finished my Masters degree in the UK which makes me eligible for a Tier 1 PSW visa and will be applying from my home country (India). I've got a small dilemma and was hoping if someone could help me out.

One of the criteria that has to be fulfilled while applying for a work permit is that I show 2800 pounds as maintenance funds. In my case I've stored my funds in Fixed Deposits and they have been there for more than 3 months.

I can issue a letter from the bank stating that the funds have been in my account for three months along with my personal details but the letter would mention that the money is stored in Fixed Deposits. I was wondering if this was good enough to prove my maintenance or should i transfer the required amount to my current account and wait for three months? I know this sounds as a safe way to go about the issue but i don't want to wait for three months more if there is an alternative.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I had the exact same situation. I applied with a fixed deposit account with a bank letter from Turkey and I got the visa in October. But there's no gurantee. I was really stressed while waiting but it worked for me. I'm in the UK now :) Best of luck!!

I know this reply is forever late but thanks a lot for your help.

I'll give it a go and see how it spans out.

Cheers!

keep in mind PSW will be closed for ever from April 2012! so if they refuse your application.....have some back up plan!
