British Citizenship Queries

Hi All,

I have couple of questions regarding citizenship. Would be grateful if senior members could respond.

Arrived - 15 Mar 2006
ILR - 17 Feb 2011

Queries:
1. When do I become eligible to apply for citizenship? Would that be 17th Feb 2012 (1 yr since ILR) or 15th Mar 2012 (6 yrs since arrival)?

2. Along with my application, I shall be applying for my Mrs as well. However she was not in the UK from 1st Feb 2007 to 24th Mar 2007. Does this mean that I cannot process her application till 24th Mar 2012 or would the in-country criteria, 5 years before the date of application, applicable only for me and not my dependents?

1. 1 year after your ILR (17th Feb 2012). You need 5 years not 6 years

2. Not sure. But I think all applicants should be in UK at the beginning of qualifying period.

It is not you who are applying for your wife. It's she who is applying for herself. She is not your dependant any more.

The in-country criteria apply to all applications and there is no discretion in this test. It's either pass or fail so she will need to wait until 24/03/12.
