Hi guys, I think I need to post a new topic to highlight this very specific question. Any advice or opinions much appreciated.
My title is Senior Environmental Consultant, my work permit was granted Aug 2008 within shortage occupation list (SOL) (contaminated land specialist).
This title has been removed from the SOL (or say has been replaced by Contamianted land engineer in 2010).
If I am going to apply for ILR, I have two options if i stay in the current company.
1. request pay rise to meet "Contaminated Land engineer" (salary requirement c.29k).
2. using the code 3551 (salary requirement c.23K).
Through UKBA's webite, I went to
http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/ ... index.html
You will find "SOC2000 volomn 2 the coding index (excel format)", in which 3551 is the best code for me, as it reads as "Consultant, Environmental".
I then double checked with the external link "CASCOT" shown in th above website, the software also suggests that my code should be "3551".
But the problem is on UKBA'S website "3551"appears to be a code for jobs in central government or local authority (Environmental/Conservation Officer).
There are two uncertainties if I use 3551 for my application:
1. I applied for WP under SOL, but when applied for ILR, it's not
2. Is 3551 suitable for private sector as well?
Many thanks,
