Travelling to SL with Immigration Status Document

Post by chopchop » Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:59 pm

Hi All,
I have been granted Discretionary Leave(3 Years) on an Immigration Status Document (ISD). This was because at the time this decision my Sri Lankan passport had expired. Now I have applied for a new Sri Lankan passport and it will take around 2-3 months to have the new passport.
I need to travel to Sri Lanka urgently as my ailing mother is not well. I have contacted the Sri Lankan High Commission in London, they offer an emergency (return only) passport & advised me collect my new passport in Colombo. I plan to come back to London with the ISD and my new passport.

Will there be any trouble from Sri Lankan Airport immigration or the Airline (Sri Lankan Airways)?
Will there be any trouble when I arrive back in London from the UKBA?

I have 2 children and wife, all of them are British. I intend to transfer the Residence Permit on my ISD to my new passport when I come back from Sri Lanka.

Thank you all in advance.

As long as you have your isd with a passport for identification there shouldn't be a problem both departure and arrival. See what other have got to say about this.

I returned from Sri Lanka with my new passport and ISD. There were no immigration problems but they detained & questioned me under Terrorism Act 2000. (I a Muslim and have a beard, but they were not rude!!!)
