Work permit for an American Wife of a French Ressortissant

Hello,

I'm French and I lived in USA for a while. We are just married with my American wife and we would like to move in London.

How my wife can get a work permit or equivalent?

We married in USA and as an European I can work everywhere in Europe.
I think we need to register our situation in an UK gouvernemental institution.

Your wife, being a US passport holder, could simply enter the UK as a general visitor (no need to apply for a visa) and then, when inside the UK, apply for an EU residence card based on your nationality and that you are exercising treaty rights in the UK.

However, given that she intends to reside in the UK rather than visit, it would be more appropriate for her to apply for an EEA Family permit before she travels to the UK (its quick and free), and then apply for the residence permit inside the UK in the usual manner.

If she goes for the first option to enter under UK visit rules, she should be aware that any mention on arrival of her entry being for residence in the UK rather than a visit, after which she intends to leave, may result in her being refused entry. Visitors to the UK entering under UK immigration rules must proof that they are visiting with the intention to leave rather than remain.
