Traveling outside UK on PSW

Post by remra » Thu Jan 26, 2012 1:31 pm

I have had the PSW visa for 6 months and I am planning on traveling back home for about a month. I am wondering if when I come back am I going to have any problems at the UK border because I am currently unemployed?
In case you are wondering why I've had it so long without work it is because I applied for the PSW visa based on my bachelor's degree award that I received in July 2010, so the last date to apply under this award was July 2011. When I applied I was completing a Master's degree and I was unsure of how late the University would send my final marks, expected to be in December 2011. Since I know the PSW visa scheme has been abolished and will end in April 2012, I knew there would be a backlog of applications if I sent it out in December of 2011 when I got my final transcript.
Please let me know what questions to expect and what sort of proof I have to show at the border, i.e. bank statements showing funds for maintenance, etc.

when i re-entered into UK last year just after the xmas with PSW, all they asked me at the boarder was the standard questions like, what was my job, when i obtained my psw, which university i went to and what i studied and what degree i got. although i was unemployed, it only had been within one month of obtaining the psw and since it was holiday season everybody traveled, i didnt have any problem getting in.

i do have a similar question, that i have to go visit my home country in four months and plan on coming back here while im unemployed, would they give me a hard time letting me in because it would be approx. 6 months unemployed since i first got my psw in effect? while i do not believe there is any restriction how long i can stay unemployed with psw, crossing the border with that sort of status may raise question. please let me know if anyone has any clue. thank you.

Apparently, working is not a condition of grant.
