Hi,
My wife and I (She is Brazilian) are applying for ILR through the SET(M) form.
We have an appointment at the PEO office in Glasgow on 1st March to get it all done, but for some reason I am really worried about it all.
We got married on 27th Feb 2010 and have the cert, etc.
We have a tenancy agreement (well 2 as each one is 12 months) and have lived together at our current flat in London since June 2010. It has both our names on so should all be fine. Although she is referred to as 'miss' on there for some reason and has kept her maiden name (Our choice as the combination of her first name and my surname sounds a bit odd so we both agreed she is better off keeping her maiden name).
We do not have a joint bank account (Don't see the point really), but she does pay me £x per month out of her paycheque towards the rent, bills, etc which would be evident from the bank statements.
Before that we lived in a flat my cousin owned (for about 2 months) but we do not have any paperwork showing us living there, as we knew it was only temporary and we just paid him a monthly amount for rent, bills, etc all inclusive. If we get a letter from him and take it along, should this be OK?
Before that (About 1 month- the time between us getting married and the flat above), we lived at my mother's house as my wife was unemployed and I work from home. I am assuming again a letter will suffice?
Now the thing that worries me is that whilst we have some paperwork going to our current rented house (Elec and water bill are in my name and go to me at that address, council tax has both our names and goes there, and wife's payslips, mobile bill, and bank statements go to that address)... nothing else does.
The reason is that we don't know how long we are going to stay there, and as we have moved around a fair bit over the past few years, all the post I don't need urgently such as my payslips, bank statements, etc, go to my mother's house to save me constantly changing addresses.
Do you think turning up with bank statement and payslips showing my mother's address is going to be a problem? How strict are they on that type of thing? If I get something changed now is it going to help our case at all?
Also I am a little worried about the 'sufficient funds' thing. We earn a good combined salary, but my current account is showing overdrawn at the present time... Whilst it is not specifically mentioned in the application form, I take it statements from share dealing accounts would be acceptable? I take it they are looking for evidence of savings or assets that can be liquidated rather than a large bank balance?
Also we have been on a lot of trips together, have lots of photos together, etc, so will taking all that kind of stuff help? say a CD of photos from our trips together plus printouts of flight confirmations, hotel bookings, etc?
Thanks
