CASE STUDY OF HSMP/FLR

My case study could answer some questions on HSMP - FLR requests especially for cases that are complex:

- Got HSMP EC from an African country - End October 2005 (one year)
- First entry to UK - end February 2006
- Went back to home country - mid MARCH 2006
- Came back to UK - End May 2006.
- Despite many applications, no HSMP job.
- Took unskilled job (agency) end August 2006
- Submitted extension request end September 2006 giving 14 working days pay slip, bank account of slightly less than £3,000 and TONS OF APPLICATIONS, INTERVIEW LETTER, REJECTION LETTERS, REGISTRATION WITH SPECIALIZED AGENCIES ETC to make a case for 4-year extension as short visa tenor was a major challenge.
- Reference received from home office on 03/10/06
- FLR given for ONE YEAR ONLY on 25/10/06 - letter states that LOW ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IMPLIES THAT I DID NOT TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS . . .

Was i too optimistic to expect 4-year extension sine i thought i proved with documents that i had taken all step to find HSMP job?

Hi Alex2000,

I am also in the UK with HSMP. It's a bit difficult getting a job now cos of the Europeans trooping in enmasse. It makes it more competitive than ever. But it takes sometimes though to get something but you have to keep moving.

I think it's a different ballgame in the I.T./Telecomms. I was opportuned to attend some interviews in the Financial services sector. It's really different from our Financial services back home because most of the instruments they trade on here are more complex. Let me advise you to go learn more about these instruments and include some of them on your C.V. that you have experience in them. I pray God helps us.
