Is my imagination, or are November applications getting sorted before some of the October ones?
We were ready for around 12 weeks: now almost 19!
Not happy. We have some plans for a new business together, but all on hold until we get this visa sorted.
hopefully, under which category are you so that we add you on the waiting list.pirzadaz wrote:Dear Friends sorry to hear about all these horrible stories. I am feeling very frustrated now, is any one in same situation. If I would new that postal application takes that long I would have gone for Face to Face.
I sent my papers on 3rd October.2011 got conformation on 6th October, nothing since then.
I had to cancel all holidays for December, now paid for Holiday starting 22nd March; do you guys think I will get passports back by then?
Regards

Added you on the list, check on page 105, people who submitted documents in September are still waiting under that category. Just a little more patience & you will get your documents backpirzadaz wrote:HSMP (JR)

Remember, the emphasis is on "relatively" because although I sent mine via this medium and was assured both in print and verbally that my application would be processed quickly, it still took a good 10 weeks for it to come through. That is too long in my opinion. However, if you compare this to other cases that take 24 weeks and over, then the Settlement Checking Service is relatively quicker. It costs an average of £80.00 though and, your partner has to be present at the appointment.
I support all the grievances being put forward regarding processing times. The HO need to be aware, that applicants are not asking for their applications to be approved quickly. They are asking for decisions to be made faster! There is a difference. If an applicant presents a straightforward case, of what benefit is it to the HO to delay the processing? Unless it is a deliberate tactic to test the resolve of married couples and hope that something goes wrong during that window, I can't really fathom why? Or is it just to force applicants into using the premium service?
I really wish I had used the premium service though. For a few hundred pounds, I could have been saved the psychological trauma of looking out for the post man each morning for 10 weeks!
I am glad to have come out of this mental torture with a successful application and hope you all succeed in yours.
I am sorry to hear about your situation. You are right about the incompetency of the personnel employed at the Settlement Checking Service. The lady who checked my documents tried to convince me, that it was better to provide documents in INDIVIDUAL names rather than JOINT NAMES. Common sense tells me the latter provides a stronger proof of cohabitation. She didn't even have to refer to HO guidelines. This is simple common sense. I stood my ground and she went to consult one of her colleagues who confirmed that I was right. That rattled my confidence a bit as I didn't know what further mess she was going to cause my application before forwarding it to the HO. I nearly withdrew my application from them. I don't blame them much. I blame the HO for not ensuring they are properly trained and also, provide better monitoring mechanisms to ensure that their work is top notch. I plan filing a complaint regarding the incompetence of that employee but now that I have received my ILR, I am wondering if I still should. We did ours through the checking service, and we are still waiting; now 19 weeks!
Ours is not so straight forward (though easily explained), and because of this we were advised NOT to go through the same day service. We decided on the checking service. We were actually amazed at the lack of basic ILR knowledge shown by the person checking our documents. The experience left us more stressed out.
Lesson is do NOT use the checking service if your application is anything but straightforward.
Hi MiraclePrayer, i only started updating the list because a few changes had to be made & you seemed to be away for some reason. Please confirm that you are now back so you can carry on. It's good to keep it update so Polly_s doesn't have any backlog to deal with when she comes back. Will be waiting, thank you.MiraclePrayer wrote:Chrisrich, Thank you for updating the list, while polly_s is away. Let me know if I can help.
Hopefully, we should see some more going through this week.
