LTR for children born in the UK

Post by captain74 » Wed Nov 15, 2006 8:53 pm

Hello All

I have recently become a father and am now in the process of obtaining a passport for my daughter from the High Commission of my home country.

My question is - what do I need to do to obtain a UK visa on my daughters passport? What form do I need to use? Is there a fee for this? Where do I need to send the form/application? My wife is on a WP and we are thinking of getting a dependenta visa for my daughter based on the WP of my wife.

I am an HSMP holder but have lost confidence in the system following recent changes. The WP my wife has remains valid through the five years we need for ILR and hence I am banking on that as the alternative to my HSMP. We are thinking of maintaining both WP and HSMP till one of us gets ILR. The time frame is shorter for the WP which we have had for longer than my HSMP.

Any thoughts anybody?

Thanks

I believe you need to submit Form FLR(O) which, among other things, covers "Other purposes/reasons not covered by other application forms". Download from the forms page of the IND website.

This would probably be less inconvenient than waiting until your next trip home, and applying for a visa from there, which is the alternative, I think.

Thank you ppron747

I shall do the needful using FLR (o).

What are your thoughts regarding the WP/HSMP scenario?

We are thinking of maintaining both WP and HSMP till one of us gets ILR.
Excuse the double negative .... but I cannot see why that would not work. Just maintain your HSMP and your wife maintains her WP until a successful application is made for ILR.

Mucked up the last message - sorry!

Thank you for the reply John

It does appear a sound approach theoretically to maintain both WP and HSMP. I am wondering if there are any views against it out there.
