I don't understand what you mean by a 'normal reference number'
it was just a random reference.
Did you leave the COS ref no. question blank in the form. I got summary sheet of COS from my employer that included all details inc my salary code, role, duties, title, hours pay etc and also the COS ref no that I needed to quote in the form.
I hope not your bank gave you any old work permit number that was used in the past. May be they are confusing old work permit system with the new system.

Did you cancel your application? Any idea how long it takes to get back your passport?

I had initiated for cancellation couple of weeks back, still no reply whatsoever.

Has your application been refused because you didn't meet the rules, or rejected as invalid due to not fulfilling mandatory requirements- e.g. Not completing the correct form or completing mandatory sections or did you withdraw your application?
