Past earnings under new HSMP rules?

Post by zhassan » Thu Nov 23, 2006 10:19 am

Hi all,

I have a question regarding past 12 months earnings.I am AUS citizen and currently earning

a) AU$ 65K base salary.
b) 14%(AU$ 9100) super (old age benefit) of base from employer. Will it contribute towards my income? It is clearly mentioned in my employent contract, that employer will pay 14% as super
c) I have invested overseas in a business, which is not related to my profession, but I am earning about AU$ 25K/annum. Can it add up towards my earnings as well?I have sufficient supporting documents for this investment, like contract with my partener and bank statements, etc.

Can someone please advise me if there could be any issue regarding my earnings claims?

Any guidelines are highly appreciated please.

Zia

I doubt your investment income will be included - unless you have hands on / day to day involvement with the running of the business. It's similar to having shares in a company - the dividends of which are not treated as 'earned' income - pg 23, Annex C, point 29 from the Current HSMP Guidelines.

I am also involved in the business decision making mechanism to some extent, will it make any effect. I haven't looked into current HSMP guidelines in detail so far.

What about my super(old age benefit?)? I am expecting that it would be able to add this to my earnings, is it correct?

Please advise.
