studying in France

Post by sm0108 » Tue May 22, 2012 4:23 pm

Hi,

I'm a Japanese citizen and I'm planning to study in Paris for 3months from October this year.

Theoretically I shouldn't need a visa to study there as long as it is under 90 days, however I would like to do two months of traveling in Europe before. I'm arriving in Croatia at the start and probably other countries in Eastern Europe and maybe Turkey as well. Anyway the point is I will be arriving in Croatia at the end of July, and then I want to move into France during October.

I want to know if I need one of those one year student visa's or if it's okay because I'm only in France for 3months.

I think the schengen agreement will somehow come into play, but yeah, I'm really confused so if anyone could help me out in anyway it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi sm0108,

it depends a lot on where you plan to be at what time.

Both Turkey and Croatia are not part of Schengen, so this won´t count towards your 3 months inside Schengen anyway...

...you can get an overview of who is (not) in Schengen >>here<<.

Rgds, Christian
