Been there, bought the tee-shirt!avishek_1119 wrote:Hi,
I am an IT professional.I have applied for German WP from my company. My company has thier branch in Germany as well. In the residential application form I did not mention my residential address just mentioned "will be decided later" (becoz I did not have the exact address, but The city is Dusseldorf). In my invitaion leter from my German employer the city name is mentioned. In the job description and covering letter from company the city name is mentioned. But I am not sure if the absence of city name in the aplication form can cause any problem in getting the visa. Please put some feedback on this.
What country are you from?avishek_1119 wrote:I think 'van der Elst' is the right kind of Visa. But I dint know abt it niether does the HR of my company.Even the agent (a Globe Forex guy) suggested to apply for the residential permit.I really need by a months time since my project work has already started. Just a little bit tensed abt it. Lets hope for the best.
What happened with us was we made appointment with embassy in London and went down and gave in papers. The girl said then it would take three months siince papers are sent to German Labour Office for checking in Germany.avishek_1119 wrote:Does the German consolate refuse to provide provide the work permit staright away? Or they may ask for more information to process the WP?
U can phone the consulate but they just say it's with the German Labour Office. Or you can phone the German Labour Office (in Germany) but u'd need to speak German.avishek_1119 wrote:Is there any way to know the statu sof your German WP application? I don wanna run to the consolate. May be some kind of site or if the German labour office website.
No mate, ur supposed to give them copies of the documents they need as listed on the app form, which e took down to consulate. Then they still took the originals and copied them, not all the ones listed and returned all originals and the copies we made. I suppose they need to see be sure the copies are bona fide.avishek_1119 wrote:Well m already feeling the pressure since i really gotta move to my German office real quick. Tell me one more thing. Do they reject your WP application straight away...if they find few required papers are missing? or they come up asking for more info from our end(me or my employer). Just to add on the information I haven't directly applied for the WP.My German Employer has done so on my behalf.
The German consulate in UK said WP processing takes 6-10 weeks, so I'd say it would be prudent to apply three months in advance.avishek_1119 wrote:In my case my German Employer applied for the WP along eith other correspondence(invitaion letter etc.). I gotta interesting question here. How early you should apply for the WP prior to your travel? Is there any specification about it? I beleive if you apply close to your departure date, that should npt be a problem.Depending upon when I'm getting the WP my departure date will alter. In my case I have applied prior to 8 working days of my departure. My departure date already gone so wil have a modified departure date. But could there any impact on processing my WP?
To be honest I can't say but with the Germans being sticklers for accuracy and reknown bureaucrats I'd say they'd want to see the boxes filled in correctly or crossed out.avishek_1119 wrote:Thanks for the post. While filing up the resident permit application form I have not written anything on those sections which were not applicable for me(I haven't wrote 'N/A' also). But I heard form a colleague of mine that one should write 'N/A' to those sections of the form which are not applicable. What u say? Can there be an issue due to this?
I have this number, it's a Bonn number 212.12 53107 on the letter we have, 0049 for Germany is all I know, so I presume u dial that first. I think it's the student section (Studentenvermittlung), my partner's WP was for placement, but they should be able to put u thru to right section.coolamtya wrote:Hey Wanderer, somewhere in this post, you mentioned that one can inquire about the progress of one's WP application with the authorities in Germany on Phone.
Can you give me this phone number please?
You can't assume anything with the Germans! I've spoked to the gf and she tells me that the labour office in Bonn authorised her WP, and were supposed to send it to Hamburg local labour office to issue visa. They didn't and it just sat there. I've she hadn't have called it would still be sat there. They then sent it to her in UK and we faxed it to the Hamburg labour office and they did their bit, consulate contacted us and issued the visa.avishek_1119 wrote:U're right but if the application is n hold and i assume the form is not filled properly....dont u think they would have come back to my employer or me? I mean its over a month now.....still no response from thier end....so can i assume that things are going in the right direction or anything can land up at any time?
I spoke to her and it was the local labour office in Hamburg where she was to be working she spoke to. She got the number off the net, some bloke was being deported and published the number in his blog so people could call and petition for his stay!coolamtya wrote:Thanks, Wanderer for the info.
I need to find a similar number at Stuttgart.
My wife can manage to speak german, so should be ok on that count.
