Received at Birmingham- 24/05/2012
The process is considerably slower at Birmingham
Hi,Troops wrote:With these new timings not sure when should i reach HCI and queue for a token to get my application submitted on the day? Do you all think that these new timings will help in reducing the morning queues?Friend wrote:Troops wrote:Hi,
I am from Coventry and planning to submit my OCI application in London HCI on 7th May.
As 7th May is a bank holiday but the HCI is open, just wanted to know your views as what to expect once I reach HCI? Will it be very busy on the day? I understand that the HCI opens at 8.30am, how early i need to queue to get my application submitted on the day? Any other tips will be useful.
Thanks.

At what time did you go there? I'm planning to apply for OCI next week. I too have noticed the new timing from the HCI website and was not sure when to go there. Please let me know your experience.
Hi, I reached HCI around 11am. There were around 15-20 people already in the que. By 12.30pm it went upto around 40-50 people. Actually it doesn't matter how long the que is you will still get a token upto 2.30pm and will be seen by the HCI staff. There were three counters open for HCI applications.
I realized most of the people came to collect there OCI and were turned away by the staff as the new timings is for submitting the applications only. If you want to collect u still need to drop your passports before 12 and collect it after 4.30pm on the same day.

What is a mode of payment? Can I use credit card or cash?
Thanks,

Some people have had it granted in a couple of days. Others like myself had to wait for 3 weeks. Also there's the dispatch process, which can take from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. If you don't get yours granted within a week or so and you cannot change travel plans - then applying for the visa does make sense ( although you end up paying more, especially if you're a family )GBINR wrote:Has anyone recently applied for OCI. My wife has applied in person on 04/June in person and we are bit eager as we plan to go to India in July2nd week. If there is no quick progress by mid June, we plan to apply for visa, for safer side.
Thank you hmw for your suggestion. I do not want to loose huge amount in tickets and instead I could go for visa application by posthmw wrote:Some people have had it granted in a couple of days.
