A work permit for a refugee recognised by another EU country

Hi all,

I understand that this is the difficult one but I could not find any relevant information on the official sites.

I have been granted refugee status in Belgium and hold a Convention Travel Document. A prospective employer in the UK asks if I am eligible to work there without a work permit. I did a quick research and found this site:

Section "When a work permit is not required" says that, You do not require a Work Permit if you hold... a refugee's United Nations passport.

There is no such thing as a UN passport since every country which is a party to the 1951 Convention issues its respective convention travel document.

My question is whether a work permit for me would be required to take an employment in the UK?

Hello,

That refers to a passport issued in the UK. In other words, you must have been granted refuge in the UK.

You can only transfer your refugee status if your family lives in the UK.

Why on earth are you even thinking about leaving Belgium without first obtaining your Belgian citizenship?
