I am an American and I plan to marry my British partner this spring in the UK, and we intend to settle in France where he owns property.
I'm curious if anyone can tell me what I would need to do to legally live in France? Do I need to apply for the Long Stay French visa? It seems that to do this I would need to fly all the way back to the States to make an appearance in person at the consulate, and then wait 2 months for the visa to "maybe" get processed. This seems a bit silly (not to mention expensive).
Does being married to an EU citizen automatically give me the right to live with him in France?
When I plug in my details on this website -
http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/venir/vis ... sp?anglais
And put in long-term stay, purpose of visit = Family, Member of family of EU national, it says "You do not require a visa to enter France, for the length of stay and the reason you have indicated." So I would almost assume that I would not need any special type of visa? But that seems a bit too easy to be true...

Any advice appreciated... thank you for your time!
