Post by distantshores » Tue Jan 02, 2007 7:15 pm

I got approval yesterday, I am in UK on a student visa and I want to go India and apply for EC rahter applying from here as it will cost me a lot to get EC here than in India and I will also take my holidays at the same time...

Is it possible to get EC in India if you are a student in the UK.

thanks,

Ajay

Hello,

You mentioned you are currently on a student visa at the moment and have got approval HSMP. Did u find out if you can change in country while studying, if yes think that will be ok instead of going back although it will be cheaper than the £350 if done in-country.

Other thing you might have to worry about is if you do get ur EC from india and you are comin back, dont you think ur student visa would have cancelled since u now have HSMP and i'm sure you would still want to be studying and putting it in mind that you need a student visa if u want to study in the UK except u have a residence permit stay, which doesnt restrict u in the UK.

Best to check from a solicitor or HSMP team. Although i know you can switch from a student visa to HSMP in-country but not sure if you shud have completed or you are still studyin ur course under that conditions/course the visa was issued.

I'm just about to apply for my HSMP this week and i've got a student visa to study from feb 1, so seems like i might be in the same situation, as i wud still be stuydin if my HSMP is successful and want to apply for extention to remain.
