There is no tangible sum. You merely need to have money flowing (or static) in your or his bank account(s) that shows you can afford this venture.

Reading this thread may offer some thoughts on whether he actually stands a chance on getting a visit visa.

See page 4, section 2(iii) discusses cash savings of £16000 that you are in control of for 6+ months.

I have pasted the above links concerning your spouse joining you for settlement purposes assuming from your post he is a non-EEA national - please confirm if this is correct.

Visit Visa

Post by @ObiterLegal » Tue Aug 07, 2012 1:38 pm

In reply to your query about your spouse visiting the UK, I have pasted the relevant links below directly from UKBA:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... uirements/

The below is a guide to the supporting documentation he will need:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... sitors.pdf

If he is a non-EEA national he will need to submit a VAF1B:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... /vaf1b.pdf
There are guidance notes for this form too. Depending on the country he makes the application from this may need to be done online, he would then visit the nearest visa centre in/to his country to take biometrics (facial photos and fingerprints, along with with his application form signed and supporting docs from you) and they will review the application. A fee is payable and again this information is available on the UKBA website.

Please post any further questions if you have any - happy to help!

Thanks.

Please do not use this free access forum to promote your business interests. Especially so when the comments you are making are wrong and inappropriate to the visit visa category.

Sorry that was not my intention I was merely providing helpful links. I have tried to delete it but it only gives me an option to edit. Please advise.

In any case I have changed my profile to delete mention of legal advice.

It's clear that you have commercial interests at the heart of your presence on this site. Otherwise, you could choose a non-indicative name and comment on the basis of being helpful to others by sharing your knowledge.
