Just waiting for passports and documents to be returned.

So happy, we are going to Cuba in November with 15 other people so we were getting a bit worried.

i applied for my wife by post sep 21, acknowledgement and money taken on 24 sep, says 99% turnover in 6 months, have sent holiday ticket copy booked in december, says will be considered in compelling circumstance, anybody had similar experience, not sure if need to cancel air tickets & lose 2000 pounds?
she already has biometric card, will it help to expedite and what if i write a letter with extra money to cover for premium application?

I have also applied on by post on 19 sept 2012 and money taken on 24 sep and received acknowledgement letter on 27 sep dated 21 sept. But I think you should not book the tickets or plan the journey because sometimes they dont even reply to your letter and fax.

I have just received a letter from UKBA dated 2 october says that my ILR has been approved, just waiting for my BRP in 7 working days.

I think all the July 2012 applications are "not on their computer systems yet" I have spoken to their advisers once in each of the last 2 weeks and each time I get told that they cant even find my application reference.

Most people who applied in July have not received any BRP invitation, so you are not alone

My BRP arrived today (oddly, I didn't get an approval letter, not that I'm complaining)!

So here is my timeline:

Current Visa: Spousal (2 yrs)
Date current visa expired: 16/06/12
Applied at Cambridge Settlement Checking Service 06/06/12 -- SET(M), no dependents
Application received 07/06/12
Acknowledgement letter dated 12/06/12
Payment taken 12/06/12
Biometrics letter received 06/08/12
Biometrics done same day
Biometric permit arrived 05/10/12

Exactly 17 weeks

Whether or not my MP's phone calls and letters helped, I just don't know. But I fervently wish all of you who are still waiting a very speedy end to the torture. I still plan to write something about my and others' experience. I have taken lots of notes about all the things people were prevented from doing by the delays, and have also noted some of the truly outrageous waiting times. When I do write something, and if I can get it published, I will post a link to it here.

Hello friends,

I applied for ILR in May 2012 with help of a immigration lawyer. I spent 5 years in UK and did not realize how the time flew. However now I am waiting since 4 months for ILR and it seems that time is not moving fast enough. It is true that if you wait for something then it is hard. My timeline is as below:

Date of application: 23rd May 2012 (Set O, 1 main applicant + 2 dependent)

Date of Biometric Enrollment: 11th August 2012

Since then waiting for any further news.

It has been a frustrating wait, but the help this forum has provided has been exceptional. I contacted my local MP about 1 month ago, so may be that helped.

I decided to go postal because of my 102 days continuity break, and didnt want to be in a position of having to apply for tier1 extension within a day or 2 if my ilr was rejected in an in-person appointment. Postal looked like a safe option according to my solicitor, fortunately it worked, inspite of the stress.

Just got off of a call from my adviser who gave me an update of my application progress, who told me that they NEVER received any acknowledgement letter!!

Is it normal? Does anyone here use agency and not received acknowledgement?

My agency is a really good one but not quite hands-on,
they just said
"UKBA has received your application and we have confirmed it."
which I took as acknowledgement letter being received by them, but apparently I was mistaken.

If the payment wasn't taken still now I would have been seriously worried, but well, money is gone, so they have looked at my application at one point for sure

It's a joke ......I'm still waiting for my Biometrics. Nothing heard since august. I unedstand HO had staff shortage and backlog because of Olympics. But it is gone, they must return to normal pace.

Today I got email from the lawyer that my BRP along with passport and all other documents have been received from the home office.

Now I need to pay the fees for the lawyer and he will post me the BRP and the passports.

BRP is dated 4 october 2012 valid until 23-5-2022.

I think 37 working days from the date of Biometric is current waiting time which UKBA was claiming is almost correct.

final timeline is as follows:

Date of application 23-5-2012 (Set O one main + 2 dependent)
Date of Biometric enrollment 11-8-2012
BRP with passport and other docs received by the lawyer: 8-10-2012
Total time to receive ILR: 18 weeks approx

My case was bit complicated, I lost my passport in 2010 and the original visa and first date of entry was on that passport. I was not able to prove the first date of entry in this country as well as my absentees in this country as the passpot was lost and I did not remember the exact travel dates.

In my opinion it is better to hire a lawyer if the case is complicated. It will cost you around 1000 pounds but is worth spending the money as you will be saved from lot of unnecessary hassles.

I think a lot of people on here need to really relax and take a chill pill!!! Patience really is a virtue in life and a quality I've not seen much on this forum, and to stress out and work yourself up about something that you can't change is pretty pointless. Yes, worry in life if your close loved one is critically ill, or you find your own days are numbered, but don't worry if you have to wait a bit longer for you to get your ILR stamp in the country you intend to remain in anyway! The whole point of Indefinite Leave to Remain is "to remain"... so why it is seemingly so difficult for people to have to "remain" here for the 6 months processing time is remarkable! Do they just want the ILR stamp then just leave the country? If so, stop panicking and just leave instead of wasting the ukba's time and prolonging the length of time it takes to process those who do wish to "remain" here!
My high-horse 'rant' is about those people who applied within the past couple of months and are panicking and complaining on this forum, whereas you can see that 6 months from application time is seemingly normal now. Writing and complaining to MPs etc is a pointless exercise before this time. Of course there are 'exceptional circumstances' as I said before where family are ill etc, and I understand in these situations the cruelty of this drawn-out process puts you through and I hope to god that you manage to get yours pushed through quickly. This rant isn't posted to those who have waited over 6 months, as understandably you should then try to push things forward however you can, using whatever means possible to empower you. But - if you applied 2 months ago and haven't received your ILR yet - chillllll oooout!!!!

I don't see why we have to put up with such a useless agency. We each pay good money for our applications to be processed - why should it take 6 months? It is absolutely ridiculous that you can't get any update from the agency as well. Perhaps unlike others, some of us have to travel for work to be able to afford living in this country and paying such high taxes. Why should we only be allowed to travel if someone is dying or ill? Most of us are good, law abiding, tax paying residents. We shouldn't be treated like criminals. There is no excuse for such inefficiency.

Indeed I don't disagree that we "shouldn't" have to put up with the way this system works, but as you go through life you realise there are things that you can change and there are things that you are unable to change. For those things that you can't change then there is no point moaning about and getting upset about but instead try to work around them. As this forum shows, and as the ukba published processing times show, they aim to process most within 6 months, and do warn not to make any travel arrangements... so when applying for the privilege of the right to remain in the UK for an indefinite period of time it's really a small sacrifice to bear in the grand scheme of things isn't it?!... and one who's processing times are not a secret, so we know what to expect.
My wife and I are the same as everyone else, having to wait... my gripe is with people panicking on here when they've not received their documents/ILR before their turn has come.
All will be ok in the end I'm sure... just have patience instead of anger.
