Travel document application

Post by karwan » Thu Aug 12, 2004 3:32 pm

Hi everyone
I just receive my ILR after 6 months waiting.
I have some questions hope someone have the answers .
1- I receive with the ILR letter my expired travel document without any stamp on it.
2- There is a resident permit letter explaining what is UKRP and the new rules with with a paper titled immigration status document.
The paper divided in 4 parts with personal details and a sticker like the first page of travel document with all stamps and codes on it.

Now the question do I need to apply to a new travel document or not I don’t know if I use the expired travel document and the ISD paper will be valid or not in the airport.
The other question is I get my ILR after completing the 4 year ELR based on refused asylum application.
In the travel document application form there is section 7 which is two parts a,b
In section (a) it says it’s not required for asylum and stateless person to complete this section, without mentioning anything about ILR.
But in the end of section (b) its written that those who got ILR don’t have to complete this section and go to section 8.
Do they mean part b from section 7 or (a &b). and if I need to fill section 7. What will be the countries I need to write, is it all countries except my own country or what.
It’s a bit confusing but may be someone cross this and know the answer
With regards

Karwan,

Congratulations on your ILR

Get a new ppt from the Iraq Embassy/consulate in London - and then go back to HO and get your ILR stamp transfered to your new ppt.

The beauty of ILR (rather than ELR) is that you can also go and visit Iraq and come back to the UK without any problems

Chess thanks for your reply

there is no iraqi embassy working in UK. further more even iraq right now have no valid passport to travel.
people there get a temprory TD from CPA for temprory travel.
so what do you think about this

Karwan

Get the UN convention refugee travel document - I think you can apply for that from the UK passport office in Liverpool - if I am not mistaken

otherwise wait for a further 12 months and then apply for naturalisation
