What was irrelevant in this?

Please help clear this. My wife has been in the country since 2003. And I have been on Tier 1 general but switching to 10 years long residence. Does my wife need to meet the financial requirements or not. I want to send my applications today but after I read your reply.

Only if she was not on spouse visa previously. However, Having said this, You might not be able to include your wife's application along with yours.

Don't know which scenario you fall into but,

If your wife's got her visa valid for long enough (at least 6 months) then I'd suggest not to send her application until you get your ILR or Expiry of her current stay which ever is earlier.

If your wife's visa is about to expire within next couple of months, then wait for your acknowledgement letter and then apply for her showing the connection between your application and your wife's application. So the HO would hold your wife's application until you get your decision. Once you get your decision you got to be sending them your ILR & Passport for them to proceed with your wife's application.

WRT your actual query, you are not required to prove your financial circumstances if your wife was on spouse visa earlier. However, if this is the first time ever she's applying for Spouse visa (assuming that she was in her own right all of her previous stay which I hope not) then yes you fall under the new category and are required to prove your financial circumstances more over she need to spend 5 yrs (in chunks of 2.5 years) on spouse visa to qualify for her ILR

The topic, where these were posted, is titled "SET(O) applications", not FLR(M) applications. Neither is the ILR forum for posting queries regarding extension / visa applications for family members. The person posting the query already has an existing topic related to FLR(M) queries in the relevant forum.

When someone posts irrelevant queries in a topic, it is best to either ignore or suggest that the queries be posted in the appropriate place / forum, than respond to irrelevant queries and make your own contribution in digressing the discussion from the stated subject and set a precedent.
