HSMP dependant visa and medical checkup

hi guys, one of my friend is currently staying in UK on hsmp and has visa till 2010. He is getting married next month.... i have query ...
while applying dependant visa does his wife need to undergo any medical check up in India itself ( refereed by UK immigration authorities)
OR just bring an x-ray to produce at heathrow ???

any recent experiences would be of great help.
