Limted Leave to Remain "Spouse Visa" Travel Restri

If a spouse is in the UK on a "two year" limited leave to remain visa ("Spouse Visa"), can the spouse still travel and not hurt an application for Indefinite Leave to Remain at the end of the two year period.

My thoughts were that the spouse should be able to travel at least using the 270 day out of 3 year rule for naturalization. (i.e. 90 days a year)

OR are days outside of the UK a moot point and the spouse needs to simply be resident at the beginning of the two year period and at the date of the ILR application? The application form makes no reference to days in/out of the UK.

The 2-year spouse visa is most certainly multi-entry. The person is allowed to leave the UK and then return.

When applying for ILR it needs to be clear that the person has been resident in the UK. Any suspected use of the spouse visa like some sort of glorified visitor visa could well lead to problems getting the ILR.

And do appreciate that in respect of applications for ILR made on or after 02.04.07 they need to be accompanied by a pass certificate from the Citizenship Test (or a completion certificate from a combined ESOL/Citizenship course).
